Concern for the environment has led GAF Corporation to reassess its products and processes to make them as ecologically sustainable as possible. Krech Exteriors supports and continues this effort with our own “green” initiatives, including proper disposal and recycling of old roofing materials, minimal job site disruption of our surroundings, and a commitment to install roofing and siding systems that help reduce energy usage.

As the roofing industry leader, GAF promotes sustainability in all areas of their business. They practice and support new technologies in energy efficiency, material optimization, and recycling that help conserve natural resources, and share knowledge to help contractors like Krech Exteriors to do the same.

Among the green initiatives we participate in are:

• Cool Shingles – GAF’s Timberlilne Cool Series are highly reflective shingles that help to reduce temperatures in your attic, so your home will stay cooler in the summer, saving on air conditioning costs and reducing your home’s heat signature. Cool Series Shingles use specially designed roofing granules that have greater reflectance than traditional shingles. This results in less the transfer of heat to the space below.
• Ventilation – Proper attic ventilation systems allow a continual flow of outside air through the attic, protecting the efficiency of the insulation and helping to lower temperatures in the living space. This temperature balance not only helps to reduce the energy you need to heat or cool your home, it also helps to prevent the formation of dangerous ice dams along the edge of your roof during frigid winter months.
• Material Reclamation & Recycling – GAF and Krech Exteriors participate in asphalt shingle recycle, greatly reducing the amount of asphalt shingles in landfills. Many shingles are recycled and used to pave roadways.
