How Well Do Fibrex® Windows Age?

How Well Do Fibrex® Windows Age?

Andersen® developed the Fibrex® material, which is two times stronger than vinyl. It even becomes more efficient in extreme temperatures. Aside from that, windows made from this material are guaranteed not to flake, fade, blister or peel.

Fibrex® Material

Fibrex is made of 40% wood fiber by weight, which is mostly reclaimed from Andersen manufacturing processes. It’s composed of 60% thermoplastic polymer by weight. This material resists thermal transfer almost 700 times better than aluminum, helping reduce heating and cooling costs.

Because it doesn’t need painting nor require wood preservatives, it reduces volatile organic compound (VOC) transmissions. Fibrex windows stay stable and durable in all climates. A unique fabrication process integrates color with the material during the manufacturing for lasting appeal. It resists decay, rot and fungal growth.

How Well Does It Age?

Like your roofing system, your windows aren’t something you simply replace every few years. You should choose a material that’s energy-efficient, long-lasting and durable. In a study conducted by Renewal by Andersen®, they found that windows remained intact after 20 years of exposure to harsh elements and weather extremes. They removed and studied windows from the home of their customer in Minnesota.

The windows were tested on-site to see how well they hold up against different elements. More extensive tests were done in the lab. Researchers found that windows remained easy to open, and they found no cracks, chipping or peeling even after two decades of use.
